Most of the developed countries these days act like organisations. When there is a lack of skilled, talented workers or they fail to find it in their own country; they attract highly skilled people from other countries. A good global exposure, high quality of living generally makes them reluctant to return to their own country. Brain drain results in loss of valuable professionals. Loss of each emigrant diminishes the supply of that professional and this harms the country’s economy. Investment in higher education is lost as the highly educated people leave their host country and becomes an asset to another country. There are advantages to a brain drain as well. The money the emigrants send back has helped in alleviating poverty. In a developing country like ours, brain drain is a serious challenge to our economy. Reducing of brain drain is needed. It can be achieved through the improvement of college and universities so that students need not have to go overseas for higher education. Corruption must be eradicated and the government should come up with programs that would encourage our youth. Good paying jobs should be increased in number. These actions would help in reducing brain drain and result in a better economy of the country.
