ANIMAL RIGHTS & ANIMAL ABUSE

Animal rights are important. Animal rights ensure that animals deserve certain kinds of consideration. The idea of animal rights is entitled to the possession of their own lives and their need to avoid suffering and abuse. In a balanced ecosystem, every living thing has their own place and contribution towards nature. We, humans, are at the top of the chain but do not mean we have all the rights and can exploit those at the bottom of the chain. Every animal has the right to live without suffering. Everything together makes a balanced and stable ecosystem. Since ages man has been using animals for various works, for foods, for clothes, research etc. One way or the other, animal products are being used by humans but that should be done in a way that minimizes unnecessary sufferings and pain and instead sees for alternatives available.

We see cases of animal abuse in news. In December 2016 a man chopped off the legs of a puppy in Dwarka because the puppy in excitement scratched him. A Bengaluru woman killed 8 puppies to teach their mother a lesson for giving birth near the gate of her house. Students in Vellore tied a monkey burnt and beaten it to death. A man from Mumbai raped a stray dog inside a public bathroom. The most recent animal abuse case that occurred was a gang rape by 8 men of a pregnant goat on July 25. The incident took place in Haryana. The list is long. These things are a shame to our human society. Animals are brutally hunted for fun and sports. Research in psychology shows that people who commit acts of animal abuse move on to their fellow humans as well. There are laws in our country and worldwide for those abusing of showing cruelty towards the animals. These animals don’t have their own voice so it is our responsibility to take their stand and provide them rights for a pain and suffering free life. We should never ignore minor acts of cruelty towards animals by kids or elders and should encourage others as well. Evidence of the cruelty from Jalikattu, PETA seeks a ban on the sport. Those who abused has been punished but all we need is to give equal consideration to these animals and stop such cruelty towards them.
