DRUG ABUSE/DRUG ADDICTION

Drugs are substances which when ingested, inhaled, injected or consumed produces a physiological effect in the body. It is a chemical that interacts with the proteins in the body. When drugs are used repetitively whether legal or illegal or taking more than the prescribed amount or using someone else’s prescription is drug abuse. One may abuse drugs to feel good, avoid stress and tensions of life. Addiction is when one cannot stop using drugs even if the person wants to quit it. It is a chronic, relapsing disorder. There is an urge to get and use drugs every minute no matter how much harm the drugs may cause. It's overuse change how the brain works and makes lose self-control affecting the behaviour of a person. A drug is not just about cocaine or heroin or any other illegal drugs, even painkillers, alcohol and other legal substance can cause drug addiction. Animal rights are important. Animal rights ensure that animals deserve certain kinds of consideration. The idea of animal rights is entitled to the possession of their own lives and their need to avoid suffering and abuse. In a balanced ecosystem, every living thing has their own place and contribution towards nature. We, humans, are at the top of the chain but do not mean we have all the rights and can exploit those at the bottom of the chain. Every animal has the right to live without suffering. Everything together makes a balanced and stable ecosystem. Mental illness has always been a taboo in our country. People living in urban and rural areas are suffering from mental illness from various factors. In a survey by the National Mental Health Survey, it shows that urban areas are most affected. An estimated one million Indians are in need of mental health treatment and care. OLD AGE PROBLEM IN INDIA

Our old aged elders are facing problems across the country. Population ageing is a global issue. Ageing is a universal irreversible process. WHO defines those aged 60-74 years as elderly. In India, the age of 60 years has been adopted by the census of India for classifying a person as old. There are around 81 million older people in our country. It has been estimated that around 40% of them living with their families face abuse in one way or other and one among six comes to light. In old age, a person’s physical strength lowers down and mental stability decreases. Alzheimer’s is common in old age which makes them even not recognising their own family sometimes. There arises isolation, economic insecurities, idleness, lowered self-esteem among them. They become dependent and require physical, mental and economical support. KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS

On 26th July 1999, Operation Vijay got succeeded. On this date, since 1999 Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated to commemorate India’s victory in Kargil War against Pakistan. After the victory, India successfully took command of the outposts across the Himalayas in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir which had been lost to Pakistani intruders. The war had been fought for more than 60 days between May and July in the Kargil district of Kashmir and along the Line of Control. It ended on 26th July 1999. The cause of Kargil War was the infiltration of Pakistani soldiers and Kashmiri militants into positions on the Indian side of the LOC and occupied outposts. The operation was to clear the Kargil sector from those intruders. The Pakistani intrusion was reported initially by local shepherds. Land, Air, Naval operations were held.
